France has defeated Finland by 1-0 in a world cup qualifier match at Helsinki. The French team didn’t look in full flow and missed quite a few opportunities in the match, but, even after that, the team managed to sneak a victory. Had the French players not missed the opportunities, the margin of victory could have been much bigger.

The Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has said that he wants to repay the faith of the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger by performing extremely well this season. The French midfielder suffered one of the worst seasons in his career after he played just five matches last season. He was injured for most of the campaign, but has had a good pre-season and is already looking forward to a good campaign. The 25-year-old French midfielder has always been a very good player for Arsenal, but his injury hit campaign last season forced many into thinking that he will not be the same player once again.

With uncertainty about the future of the Arsenal captain rife, manger Arsene Wenger has left Robin Van Persie out of his 25 man squad for their pre season tour of Malaysia, China and Hong Kong.
The Dutchman was voted PFA Player of the Year following an impressive haul of 30 Premier League goals last season but shocked the Gunners faithful by declaring that he wished to leave in pursuit of more regular silverware and would not be renewing his contract beyond the end of the coming season.
