The next couple of months could be crucial for Abou Diaby whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will remain loyal to the French midfielder who has spent over nine years with the club, with Arsene Wenger having belief in his ability as a footballer.

However, Diaby has endured yet another season ravaged by injuries, with his last appearance for Arsenal coming in last September’s shock Capital One Cup defeat against Southampton when his performance came under scrutiny.

ARSENAL KNOCKED OUT

Arsenal was knocked out of the League Cup after losing against Southampton with a scoreboard that displayed 2-1 after 94 minutes had passed and the final whistle of the match was blown.

When the match was over, there were a series of players that were put to blame in the squad of Arsenal as they made an underwhelming performance in the game which caused their club on suffering the rather surprising loss.

DIABY BACK SOON

Arsene Wenger could have midfielder Abou Diaby back in midfield contention over the next few weeks after the Frenchman has recovered sufficiently to train.

Diaby has been one of the major absentees from Arsenal’s midfield over the last few seasons. A succession of injuries has seen the Frenchman made just a handful of appearance during this period. He has missed the whole of the season due to injury, but there are some positivity with the midfielder set to return before the end of the season.

DIABY HAS TALENT

Abou Diaby is regarded as one of the talented midfielders in Arsenal’s squad, but he has rarely featured for the club since joining the Premier league outfit from Auxerre in the 2005-06 season.

This is primarily been due to a succession of injuries, which appeared to have worsened in the last few years. Since the 2011-12 season, Diaby has featured in only 20 appearances. As a result, his career has been in major doubt. The midfielder, though, is now targeted a return to first-team football and also possibly featuring in the French national team at the World Cup 2014.

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger hammered 4 goals past Sunderland when they played each other during their latest Premier League fixture which keeps them in the racing for the title. The positive result comes at a great moment for the English club as they had already lost against Bayern Munich a few days before.

Mesut Ozil made a disastrous performance against during the Champions League match against Bayern Munich as the former Real Madrid player missed a penalty kick and just seemed to be lost in the entire game.

WENGER UNSURE

The Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has said that Abou Diaby’s chances of returning to action before the end of the ongoing season aren’t that good.

Diaby who has seen a lot of injury setbacks during his time at the Emirates stadium was supposed to get fit towards the end of February, but, Wenger doubts if that will happen.

Diaby has been out of action since the last 10 months or so and if he fails to come back in the next couple of months, it would become very hard for him to find a place in the France national squad which will be named for the World Cup finals.

THEO LEFT OUT

Theo Walcott was not included in the starting line up of Arsenal for their previous Premier League game against Hull City due to the lack of training. Arsene Wenger, the manager of Arsenal, disclosed that in the post match press conference.

However, Walcott went on the pitch in the 73rd minute of the game and showed good intensity out there.

Arsenal ended up winning that game by 2-0. The players who found the back of the net for them were Nicklas Bendtner (in the 2nd minute) and Mesut Ozil (in the 47th minute).

DROGBA NOT RETIRING

There is some good news for all Didier Drogba fans. The star striker of Ivory Coast has said that he doesn’t want to retire from international football soon. His desire is to remain active as an international player for the next 4 years.

Drogba is 35 years of age at the moment. He will be celebrating his 36th birthday in about 5 months or so.

He was recently given the Golden Foot award for his athletic achievement in the game.

WENGER IS HAPPY

The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, is happy that his side has gone into the international break as the Premier League table toppers, but, he is completely aware of the fact that these are early days and to lift the Premier League trophy after 9 years, his team will have to continue playing consistent football.

Arsenal was given a tough time in their last League game by West Bromwich Albion. The Gunners were down by 0-1 at one point of time in that game, but, courtesy of a superb goal by Jack Wilshere in the second half, they managed to draw the game and walked away with 1 point.

WILSHERE WANTS MORE

Jack Wilshere has said that Arsenal needs to make more signings like Gonzalo Higuain this summer if they have to become the strong contenders for the Premier League title next season.

Arsenal is very close to signing the Real Madrid striker Higuain. The player has agreed personal terms with the Gunners and now, it’s up to the two clubs to reach a transfer fee agreement.

When asked about Higuain’s signing, Wilshere said, “I am glad to hear that we are set to sign him. He is a class act and his arrival will bring spark in the camp.”
