There is some good news for all Didier Drogba fans. The star striker of Ivory Coast has said that he doesn’t want to retire from international football soon. His desire is to remain active as an international player for the next 4 years.
Drogba is 35 years of age at the moment. He will be celebrating his 36th birthday in about 5 months or so.
He was recently given the Golden Foot award for his athletic achievement in the game.
Talking to Unibet, the afl betting online specialists, Drogba said, “I want to continue playing for the next 4 years. I hope my fitness doesn’t deteriorate and I will be able to do that.”
In one of his interviews in the past, Drogba had said that he would quit international football after the next World Cup which will take place in Brazil next year. But, the Ivory Coast international has changed his mind now.
Although, Ivory Coast hasn’t yet made it to the World Cup finals but, they have a great chance of doing so. In the first leg of their play off clash against Senegal which had taken place in Abidjan, they secured a big win by 3-1.
Now, the Elephants just need to stop Senegal from wiping out that goal deficit of 2 in the return leg which will be played in Casablanca. If they manage to do that, they will secure their place in the finals.
Ivory Coast was in Group C in the second round of CAF World Cup qualification. They played 6 games in that round and won 4 out of it. The remaining couple of games were draws. They secured a total of 14 points and topped their group to make it to the 3rd round.
