The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, is happy that his side has gone into the international break as the Premier League table toppers, but, he is completely aware of the fact that these are early days and to lift the Premier League trophy after 9 years, his team will have to continue playing consistent football.
Arsenal was given a tough time in their last League game by West Bromwich Albion. The Gunners were down by 0-1 at one point of time in that game, but, courtesy of a superb goal by Jack Wilshere in the second half, they managed to draw the game and walked away with 1 point.
Talking to the reporters after the game against West Brom, Wenger said, “After we got down by a goal, we needed not to get panicked. We needed to hang in there and that’s what the boys did. It shows that we are mentally tough.”
“It’s fantastic that we are still at the top of the table. But, to win the title, a team needs to be consistent right through the season.”
“It’s pretty early. It’s just the start of October. If we can maintain our position till March-April, then, we can say that we have a good chance.”
“However, it’s great that we have kept the momentum going.”
Wenger also hailed West Bromwich Albion for showing tremendous fighting spirits. The Arsenal boss said, “West Brom is a very good side. They have got a big squad which is full of talented players. They fought really hard and they deserved that one point.”
The Baggies had made a poor start to the League and had suffered a couple of defeats in their first 4 games. But, they have bounced back pretty well and have managed to secure 7 points from their last 3 League games.
