The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he does not know when the midfielder Abou Diaby will be returning to the starting line-up.
The Frenchman has been one of the most impressive players for Arsenal in the past few seasons whenever he has played, but that has been extremely limited due to the number of injury problems he has suffered. Abou Diaby was one of the main reasons for Arsenal doing extremely well at the start of the season. He got injured in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea earlier in the season.
Since then, the form of the club has also nosedived. They are right now struggling to even finish in the top four positions, with the likes of Everton and Tottenham being regarded as the favourites. There is a thought as to the Arsenal fans that the manager decided to sell the Cameroon midfielder Alex Song in the hope that Abou Diaby will be fit again. The Frenchman has rarely featured for the first team last season. In fact, he played only handful of matches for Arsenal last season as he suffered a number of injury problems, which do not seem to have cured this season as well. Wenger, though, is still waiting on the return of the player.
“Slow progress. I cannot give you any fixed date because we are a bit in no man’s land on that front. He is working. We are waiting for him to come back but he is not ready. Over Christmas? Certainly not,” said the Arsenal manager ahead of the match with Reading. Arsenal will certainly want to avoid a repeat of the Capitol one cup match between the 2 clubs. The match finished 7-5 in a rollercoaster ride that almost knocked out Arsenal from the competition.
