The Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has said that he wants to repay the faith of the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger by performing extremely well this season. The French midfielder suffered one of the worst seasons in his career after he played just five matches last season. He was injured for most of the campaign, but has had a good pre-season and is already looking forward to a good campaign. The 25-year-old French midfielder has always been a very good player for Arsenal, but his injury hit campaign last season forced many into thinking that he will not be the same player once again.
However, the midfielder has revealed that the manager Arsene Wenger never lost faith in him. He has said that his first priority will be to repay the faith of the manager by performing well this season. Abou Diaby will be getting a lot of chances in the first team this season due to the departure of Alex Song to Barcelona. The 24-year-old Cameroon international was sold for £ 15 million a few days ago. Even though Abou Diaby is a different kind of player to Alex Song, he feels that he can do a job as the defensive midfielder in the Patrick Vieira mould.
“Every morning when I wake up I’m really happy to drive into the training ground, come what may. I feel very good. I’ve been fit for every training session so far and I’m really happy with how things have gone. I am optimistic, just as I am before every season. Every season we prove we are one of the best and I hope this season will be the one where we achieve something special,” said the midfielder ahead of the match with Sunderland. Following this match, Arsenal will be taking on Stoke city at the Britannia stadium.
