DIABY WANTS TO REPAY FAITH

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has said that he is extremely eager to repay the faith Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had in him since bringing him over to the Emirates stadium a few seasons ago. Abou Diaby arrived in England with the reputation of becoming the next Patrick Vieira at Arsenal, but he is yet to fulfil his potential.

The 25-year-old has been plagued by a number of injuries this season, which has been one of the most inconsistent for Arsenal. Despite having a very poor start to the season, they are now back to a respectable third position in the table.

Yet, this will be the seventh consecutive season without a trophy for Arsenal. Diaby hopes that he will be able to repay the faith Arsene Wenger showed in him when he signed him from Auxerre. This has been the worst season for Abou Diaby in terms of injury, as he has been unable to make even a single Premier league start this campaign.

He has so far made only three appearances this season, and he has been a major miss for Arsene Wenger especially considering the loss of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas in the summer. Abou Diaby now hopes that he will return to full fitness by the start of next season.

“I just need to carry on and stay focused every day in my rehabilitation. I feel in a good way now. Football itself has motivated me because it’s the thing that I love. There is also my family and team-mates, manager, medical staff – they have all helped me. It is a big motivation for me that the boss said about me [being a “massive” player]. I want to be thankful to him and show him that he is right,” he told Arsenal Player.
