The transfer window has reached the stage where clubs are beginning to close in on several transfer targets.
Latest reports from Italy does not bode well for the Gunners who are set to lose out on PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot. Rabiot is available on a free transfer this summer after refusing a new contract with the French club.
Rabiot is an excellent midfielder with the ability to dictate the tempo of the game with his close control and passing ability.
It is surprising that Arsenal have let the player slip away following the reports that the club has financial constraints in signing big transfers. Rabiot comes at no transfer costs and the wages paid by Juventus £120,000 a week is not huge for a club that pays Ozil £350,000 s week.
Gone are the days that Arsenal could boast of a wealth of players with the likes of Diaby, Fabregas,Nasri and Alex Song holding sway in the midfield.
Although that team were not successful trophywise they really played good football that entertained fans.
The departure if Aaron Ramsey to Juventus also leaves the club light in midfield and Rabiot would have been a good fit. Admittedly the 24-year-old comes with discipline problems but he has the quality to transform the midfield.
The Gunners are thought to be close to signing Brazilian attacker Martinelli and French defender William Saliba. Arsenal have been linked with Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega and Sampdoria Dennis Praet it remains to be seen if the club would be able to bring in quality midfield signings.
